Plotgate Community Farm is 10 acres of former county farmland that has been transformed from a bare field into productive vegetable gardens. We are based in rural Somerset.
The Plotgate Story
Plotgate Community Farm began in 2016, with start-up support from the Fund for Enlightened Agriculture’s Just Growth Programme.
We took out a loan from Co-op Community Finance, which was matched by a grant from the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation. We also raised £25,000 in Community Shares.
This funding enabled us to set up our infrastructure and get growing, transforming a green field in Somerset, into our Community Farm gardens.
The Board of Directors is currently “grower led” and has 4 members: Amy Willoughby, Dan Britton, Jane Sweetman and David Poyner.
